1987 535is, silver/red, 5 speed, 184k miles, 181k from original owner, runs and drives good, I've made several trips NYC to Boston doing 80-85 with no issues, I replaced cat converter, battery, and shift linkage with short throw, original owner replaced driveshaft, clutch, guibo, brake pads and did complete tune up May 2005, rust at fender/jack point needs attention.

$2500/best offer.

I can email pics if someone can post them for me. Sorry, my blood pressure is getting too high trying to do it myself. Thanks. [/img]

LOVE that interior.

Nice whip.

That is a nice whip, and the red interior rocks. The e28 is such a well-proportioned car.

I'm already working with someone else here on one but good luck.

Still rockin' the metrics?? Wow. When I had mine I selected some B-Stone Firehawk SH30's (highly recommend but noisy and they wore fast) and Borbet wannabeeeeez....

Sure you can make an offer but Boston to LA transport sounds real expensive.

Road trip!

Best one I did was catch a cheap red eye from Dallas to Chicago to pick up a 900T Conv. then booked it back down with a pit stop in St. Louis (BOTH OF THEM!) for a day.

Had never realized there were ummm "two" cities there until 2001 when I did that

OK, Few questions. Do the seats work, all functions? What's the overall condition of the interior, especially carpets? Does the car still have the metric wheels, and what kind of short throw shifter is in there?
Ive got a mint Euro 528i 5 speed, which I had covered inside for a year. When I took the cover off recently, mold has grown all over the interior. So Im most interested in the interior condition. The pics look good, please mention any faults worth mentioning. Thanks.

All the seat functions work, the carpet is very clean, there are no tears or rips in the leather. However, I redyed the rear seat (twice) with Leatherique and it is not a perfect match (never again). Also, the carpet has a tear along the pedals in the driver foot well.

Standing next to the car people ask if I had the interior re-done but a closer eye reveals a few flaws so in my opinion it would not be worth swapping. Sorry.

Thanks for the honesty. Can you post pics or email them to me? The tear in the carpet, take some pics, can it be covered by a mat? Also, are the door panels and handles in good shape? What about the shift kit and metrics?

gwade,

Have you looked in the LA, OC and San Diego Craigslist and Auto Trader, etc...? Their are numerous E28s for sale locally in So Cal with no rust issues and transportation costs won't set you back an arm and a leg. Just my .02 cents worth.

Thanks Kohler,
This cars' got an awesome interior.

JC,
Thanks for all the follow up. I suddenly have all kinds of interest in my Euro. I might just sell the mine too. If not, I'll keep this thread. I really love your interior and could use the metrics.

By the way, I got a quote to ship door to door for $772. Whether I need some special insurance on top of that is another story.

I would fix the interior - get a good MOLD killer - pull the seats - shampoo the carpets - you can even pull the carpet with some work. Get the rear panel repaired - blend paint and keep her. Finding a RUST free - low mileage E28 in the mid-west and east coast is few and far between. You have better pick'in out on the 'other' coast.
I can talk to you off the board about your options on the Euro 528i if you want more power - handling - performance.
