F/S: My 1985 M535i $6000
1985 Euro M535i WBADC710600641277
Asking $6000
Diamond Black exterior/Pearl interior
5-speed G265/ 3.46 LS diff
218hp 10:1 dirty motor using 061 ECU
Passed Emissions here in MO using cat and 059 ECU.
Has proven to be dead reliable over the past 2+ years I've owned it.
Lots of work put into it the past 2 1/2 years
Still plenty left to do:
Front crank seal leaking(have new seal)
Oil plug stripped and slowly weeping oil(have replacement pan)
Needs paint(poor respray at some point is peeling off)
Needs trunk seal soon(minor moisture in trunk after heavy periods of rain)
Plenty of other E28-related things to deal with from time to time, but nothing else eminently necessary that I can think of.
Highlights:
Rust free chassis-full M-tech kit present. No cutouts on fenders during federalization.
Full federalization paperwork and some maintenance records from previous owners.
Style 5 wheels with brand new Falken rubber
B&BTriflow exhaust/newer downpipes
Recently re-covered Manual Sport seats-'Artisan' leather.
Newer Motorsport floor mats
Bilstein Sports/ST springs in front-factory rear suspension setup.
Many new parts installed, including guibo, NEW brake booster and brake bomb, new center bearing, new suspension bits front and rear, new bellows/hoses/cap/rotor under hood, etc. I also have some parts (new and used) that I planned on installing that I will include with the sale.
I've enjoyed being part of this board for many years, and though it's hard to think about not owning an E28(this is my tenth in 13 years!), well, I just don't have the time anymore to take this project where it needs to go. I love the car, but it's time to let it go.
Please feel free to email me at: fattiresrus@yahoo.com if seriously interested, and I will be happy to discuss the car in great detail with you. I should have time on Sunday to post a few pics here as well--in the meantime, there are probably some in the archives--and a few from two years ago on the M Registry.
thanks
-Jim

The hood, trunk and roof are the worst spots as they are the most exposed, but yes, you should really have the car stripped and painted correctly(or leave it alone like I did )
Seriously though, when it's washed, it looks good going down the road--at least whoever painted it didn't change the color!

Hate to see you sell your car, but thanks for posting the photos...My M535i is the same color; I picked up some style 5 wheels this summer, and I was wondering how they'd look on the car.
Also (sorry about getting a little off topic) how do you like the front springs on your car? I've been thinking about lowering the front of mine a little bit (it has the Mtech springs now) and the stance of your car looks pretty good.

Thanks for the kind words Stuart! I've always admired your car as well.
I also really like the stance that the Bilstein Sports mated with ST springs give the car. Maybe my old setup was worn out, but now the car is both more comfortable over bumps, and handles much better in tight cornering than before. With the stock setup, the car sat pretty level and plowed a bit when I pushed it .
I have the rears to match and intended to install them, but cannot for the life of me get them off of my parts car!!(which is odd because the PO of that car bought them new only a year and a half ago--doesn't take long for those suckers to get stuck!)
Still, even with the stock rears the car's handling is better than ever with the lower front end and new suspension parts. No rubbing or issues with the oil pan whatsoever. It's pretty perfect.

Still have the car. Thinking I will pull it off of the market while I tend to the leaking crank seal and oil pan. I'll probably pull the motor after Thanksgiving, at which time I will also replace the clutch kit with a M5 kit that I have, and add a lightweight flywheel. Once it's back together, the only things left to do should be cosmetic in nature. Time should be on my side as I have another car to drive now. Will post pictures of the process.
Feel free to shoot me an email if interested in the car as it is listed above--won't be doing any of this until early December.
thanks--happy holidays everybody, and to everyone who has contacted me about my car--thanks for the kind words!

Someone is going to get a really nice car. The asking price is right, the color combo is great, and the suspension setup gives it a really nice stance, finished off with the e39 BBS wheels.
This was one of my top candidates. I found an "is" off the board, and will provide pics, etc. after I get the car, get the euro bumpers installed, etc.

Hey i know...
Brad,
Jim and I have been in contact about the M535i.. We are close and Jim is going to finish up a few issues on the ///M including State inspection so the TITLE is clear. I am getting close to sending him a deposit to 'HOLd' this rare example.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to ALL!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words about my car! Here's an update:
I have been busy with the holidays, family, computer crashes, work, etc. and have not had any time to do anything with the car, including actively work on selling it--it's been on the back burner for the last two months. I had a few people whom I considered serious prospects, but nothing materialized of yet--partially due to my struggles to get clear title in MO on the car.
It has been frustrating working with the state on this. The car is all original, with many visable VIN plates and stickers intact. It just needs a visual inspection at the hwy patrol office, but this has been the problem--setting me an appointment for such an inspection seems to be outside of the normal duties of MO's finest, and they just cannot/will not take the time to schedule me one. I've been run-around enough and I'm done with it. As of this moment, the car is still very much available just as described above, the only new info is that it passed a Missouri safety inspection in early Dec.
Here's what I will most likely do with the car:
I dont have the time to work on it, rather will let the next owner change the crank seal and replace the oil pan--I will provide the parts to do the work, just as I had originally intended when I first placed the ad.
I will sell the car with a bill of sale, no title.--many states don't require a title for a car this old I've come to find out.
My asking price on the car remains $6000. With a lesser set of wheels and tires, the price can be negotiable. No lowballers need inquire--I'll keep the thing rather than take a bath on it or give it away. It's a nice, unique car that has some pedigree and history, and it's been driven and cared for since I've owned it. I feel like I know what it is honestly worth at this moment, and my price reflects that feeling.
Further details can be found at the top of this post, and I will provide complete information about the condition of the car as I know it, it's history, parts installed by me, and photos of the car to anyone who is seriously interested in it. I will be able to devote more time to working with buyers
Thanks for being patient and feel free to e-mail me about my car.
Happy new year!
