Guess it was going to happen sooner or later. Last psi known before it blew was 12 psi on a VDO gauge. The other gauge was reading low. It was cruising at 3Koff boost when it went. It could be either the headgasket since it is dripping coolant or the turbo because the engine does not fire at all. Tired ass engines. We will see what the truth is.

Ray -- how did you get 12psi punk? And I'm sure it was the headgasket -- the K27's are hella beefy and durable.

How many miles were on the headgasket? And were you running rich? lean? stoich?

-it is a complete M106 engine with the e28 motronic.

-Haha like a WWI ace:D I might just do that or put a sticker under the drivers window.

- I think I finally had the mixture set right and since the APC did not sense any knocking it went a little past the 10 mark on the gauge. Before when the mixture was not correct the magnetic valve for the APC was constantly buzzing and opening the wastegate limiting the boost. This time I guess it let it go until somethig else had to break. I hope it is only the headgasket since I have an extra one of those and not an extra K27.

so tj, if the k27 is so damn beefy and durable, how did you manage to MELT the shaft into two pieces and get inducer wheel chunks to merrily exit the tail pipe? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

yes, i'm laughing my ass off right now. :p :p

p.s., when is the head-ectomy scheduled for? :~

i got it to do it :p the turbo was OLD and the bearing was shot on the inside. It just so happens it can go through a 3" exhaust nicely.
