FS: 1988 535is (alpineweiss on lama)

Putting up a for sale/feeler ad for my 1988 Alpineweiss 535is. Below is a list of pertinent facts & modifications the car has received. I purchased this car in March of 2018, and really hadn’t done much with it for 2 years since I was wrapping up my undergraduate degree. As of late, it has been receiving any maintenance deemed necessary.

Ownership:
I am the 3rd owner of this 535is. I bought it from a guy in St. Louis and had the car shipped. As stated, I bought this car while I was in college, it is a fair weather car.
Mileage: 177,XXX

I have put a total of probably 9k miles on the car during my ownership. Again, it has been garaged in the winters and only driven on summer breaks. Odometer and Cluster have never been inoperable.

Transmission: Manual – Getrag 265/5
10/10: Car received the Dave Kan Transmission swap by the second owner. Shift lever has minimal play and engages gears well. No issues.

Exterior: Alpinewiess
8/10: The car shows off its factory paint and the panels are in good shape. There are some chips & dings that I am happy to send closer photos of. The Hood and Front air dam were resprayed.
Rust: Small spot on the front & rear windshield trim, driver fender rocker and spare tire well. The car had driver footwell rust repaired

Interior: Sport Lama
9.5/10: I had the llama sport seats completely reupholstered in the spring of 2024 by John Christy (ninestitch on IG). All power functions work, however the though bolsters are not connected to power.
M-Tech 1 Steering Wheel and M-Tech Shift Knob
Door cards and interior accessories all match the original llama interior.
Waiting on a full 4 piece floor mat set from Cocomats in the mail at the moment.

Engine: M30B34
8/10: I have had no issues with the motor during my ownership, the car fires right up, stays at proper temps, and doesn’t make any unusual sounds. No leaks.

Exhaust: Replaced the OEM system with a stainless cat-back from Ireland Engineering.

Suspension: Ground Control
Ground Control coilover conversion kit. I recently replaced the front shocks with a new set of Koni’s and all new GC hardware
GC camber plates

Brakes: e34 540i BBK upgrade
Installed a full e34 BBK kit from a 540i. Also did stainless brake lines while I was at it. Upgrade replaces: Rotors, Calipers, Caliper Carriers and Pads

Wheels: BBS RZ (Style 5)
8/10: 16 x 8 BBS (469) wheels that originally came from an e38 (7 series). I have a 5th, but it has a small bend.
10/10: Tires are Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 205/55/16

Notable Concerns:
Inoperable A/C
Sunroof needs manual aid to open completely backwards.

If I were to keep the car I would buy the AC Solutions Sanden kit, and fix the sunroof motor, and address the small rust on the fender rocker. Otherwise the car is in great shape.

Working on getting a photo album together.

I’m listing this car for $15k. Please don’t hesitate to ask more about the car, I’d like to be as transparent as I can be.
