Fuel Pump for e28 1982

Post by mitchfloyd »

Hello, I am looking for a fuel pump to restore a 1982 e28 525i. Is there anywhere else that sells this product or can I choose another compatible product? Thanks.

Hello, I've an 87' e28 525i and according Realoem your car use the same fuel pump as my car, OE 16141178751 but replaced (interchangeable by) by OE 16141179232 (Bosch number 0580464048, which is the pump I replace and it is working without any problem). I bought OEM Bosch brand but there are several brands available.

eBay UK example:

Which pump? Many people eliminate the inline pump and replace the in-tank pump with a high pressure version. This requires modifying some of the piping but ends up leaving you with a cheaper and simpler 1 pump solution. You can search this site for multiple write-ups on the procedure.

Euro cars below 535's didn't come with an in tank pump. Just what we call the main pump.
