Life span of Bilstein Sports & H&R springs

Post by alps »

What would be the expected lifespan of Bilstein B8 shocks and H&R sport springs?

The set on my car probably have 60,000 miles on them and 10-15 years maybe.

I just replaced the rest of the front suspension components, and pending final alignment it's just feeling a bit floaty up front. What's everyone's experience here?

The shocks and struts would be replaced under lifetime warranty if you have the receipt. Bilstein said any of these that are just installed and used once would not pass their test to be as new and would be replaced.

I have had a couple sets replaced under that warranty since 89 when they were installed.

Keith, I think in a perfect world that would make sense. Not sure how they'd handle that warranty if they were on a e23. Even if you still have the receipt, and had B8 struts/shocks, I believe they are now NLA and they don't offer a rebuild service anymore for the old products.
Even Perfprmance Shocks in Sonoma won't do rebuilds or re-valve any of the old Bilstein products, they don't have the correct shims in stock. This "was" who Bilstein was using after they stopped doing the rebuilds.
There last quote a few years ago was $250 each corner + shipping both ways.

I may have the receipt, will have to look!

But am I hearing they're not even available for e28s either? The parts sites appear to show them as available without too much digging.
