SOLD: 1983 533i 5-Speed Phoenix, AZ

Post by wkohler »

Hi. I’m selling my 1/83 production 533i 5-Speed.

Burgundrot-metallic
Pearl Beige Leather
253,000 miles on working odometer
Original CA blue plate car (both original plates included)
Moved to AZ in 2020
No rust
Clean title, no signs of any accidents
Cold AC
Crack-free dash

This car runs very well. I have made multiple trips in it since I’ve owned it and it hasn’t used any noticeable amount of oil on any of them.

I rebuilt the shifter, replaced the driveshaft, flex disc and the center support. It has Eibach springs (NLA) and Bilstein Sports. I did Powerflex UCABs and subframe bushings. All the fluids, etc. New clutch hydraulics.

It has 16x8 et23 style 5s with 205/55/16 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. No spacers. Matching spare wheel in trunk. Recent brakes, no shimmy.

Recent cooling system with aluminum radiator, new fan clutch.

Crack-free dash, front seats are from a 55k mile 733i, beautiful condition. New Genuine BMW floor mats.

Complete tool kit with red screwdrivers and rag

Hella H4 lows and H1 highs. Very bright.

Everything works including cruise control.

Body is straight, no rust, awesome gaps, no signs of any accidents. Older repaint showing its age up close but still very presentable. The trim is all in phenomenal condition free of oxidation and water spots. All of the seals are nice as well.

Early 533s provide one of the most special and engaging experiences you can have in an E28. The engine has a certain playfulness to it that is lacking in the 535i. Also with manual seats, less insulation and other unique features, they are strong performers. This example is a blast to drive and eats up the miles. I love driving it.

I can’t drive this car anywhere without someone wanting to talk about it. Two weeks ago, I took it to San Juan Capistrano, CA, then down to San Diego, then back up through Riverside and back to Phoenix. It handled all the various types of driving super well, but every time I stopped for gas or food, at least one person wanted to talk about the car.

$11,950

Seems like that is the HARDEST part of selling a car these days... no one wants to show up!

Online, click, click, on demand is making everyone laaaaazy!

Congrats on the sale... was a VERY clean looking car.
