Well, it looks like I'm gonna have to buy the MS2 kit from DIYAUTOTUNE and install into my car. I have a few questions.... Is there a write up anywhere on this install? Should I purchase the one for the e30 325i like the salesman suggest or should I buy the one for the e34 535i??

Maybe the newer ms3 would be a better choice?

The older blue board ms2 was repairable. The newer ms2 board, and the ms3(I think), are not as repairable. This is due to smaller components.

Well, my question was more.....should I buy the Ms2 plug n play for the e30 325 or for the e34 535i. I know for sure I’m only gonna get the m2 plug n play..........I just need to know which one. I also need to know do I have to get a eta wire harness or can I easily use my 1.3 motrinic harness???? What parts do I need with this conversion.....I’m getting conflicting list of the requirements..... I have a 87 m30b34 ......please help

Neither will be plug and play for B34 cars as they use a 35 pin ECU.

You really need motronic 1.3 to run megasquirt , that is the most documented way to megasquirt an m30. M1.3 only came on post 88 cars, so the eta and e34. You need to convert your e28 to motronic 1.3 either using the hard to find eta harness or an e34 harness and the associted sensors and crank wheel. I would convert the car and get it running with the stock ecu then get the e34 535i pnp unit. Knowing you have a running car with the stock ecu makes megasquirt trouble shooting alot easier
