Too rich for my blood.
I think $7k is fair for this car for someone who wants a 250k+ mile car. Just not something I'm interested in.
I dont get peoples obsession with how many miles are on a car, there is an m5 with 110,000 miles that is in way worse shape than another with 300,000 i guarantee it,somewhere there is!There are owners who maintain their cars properly and then there are owners who wait for something to go bad before they do anything!I dont look at mileage, condition and maintanance are more important! So what if its an s38,maybe the guy took great care and if it got to 250k,then it will get to 450k with proper maintanence!

It is extremely doubtful that ANY S38 motor will go 450k miles with only regular maintenance...the timing components will grenade before then. 450,000 kilometers maybe...tomkatdo wrote:So what if its an s38,maybe the guy took great care and if it got to 250k,then it will get to 450k with proper maintanence!
Do you by any chance have that gentleman’s phone number? As I have a prime piece of beach front property in the Phoenix Arizona area that I would like to sell himRonP wrote:Maybe not, but I sold my last M5 for $13,500 with 286,000 on it. OMG, clearly you are not familiar with the s38, hint, it was never designed to be a m20-B27tomkatdo wrote:I dont get peoples obsession with how many miles are on a car, there is an m5 with 110,000 miles that is in way worse shape than another with 300,000 i guarantee it,somewhere there is!There are owners who maintain their cars properly and then there are owners who wait for something to go bad before they do anything!I dont look at mileage, condition and maintanance are more important! So what if its an s38,maybe the guy took great care and if it got to 250k,then it will get to 450k with proper maintanence!

There are plenty of s38's with over 300k on it. Do the timing components and it should be very sturdy. It may not be an eta, but there was a hell of lot more care put in to it. Miles are far less important than maintance. Its not some wimpy eye-tal-yun car

An M5 costs more to maintain, yes, due to the parts costs and maintenance schedule. The car is temperamental maintenance wise with fluid type in the G280 and staying on top of the timing component maintenance. That doesn't mean the car is trash or if it has over 200k it will be destined for the crusher in a week.
The car listed in the thread was priced fairly. 7k for a 1980s supercar? It looks like it's been maintained.
