FS: 1988 528e super ETA

Post by chacka »

1988 528e

165k miles
Orginal paint
Straight and rust free
Crack free dash
3.46 LSD
Short shifter (e30)
535is Rear spoiler
535is Steering wheel
Euro lights
Euro bumpers
Short shifter(e30)
Converted to manual

From what I've been told, this is would be a great canidate for a super stroker since it's a super ETA. I believe all that would be needed is a 325i head, manifold, AFM, and ECU. With that it should put out about 180hp and be quicker than a 533 or 535 because of the weight difference.

All parts listed have been bought new within the last year or so;

E30 shifter, euro bumpers, strut bars front and rear, corbeau seats, strut bearings, water pump, oil sender unit, bilstein touring rear shocks and front inserts, upper control arms, lower aluminum control arms, idler arm, tie rods and ends, center support link, sub frame bushings, sway bar links( front and rear) diff mount, guibo, support bearing (not installed yet)
tranny mounts, shift bushings, shift knob, shift boot, window seals, dent and door ding removal, tires, misc. hoses, clips etc. Money I've spent on parts and dent/door ding removal totals over $5000

PO had replaced within six months of me buying the car( I've owned it about two years)
Head gasket
Radiator
A complete new brake system (I think he paid around $2000) have to check reciept

The bad:

The deck lid has a few little dents in it. (I have an almost perfect decklid that just needs paint.)

There is one small dent in the lip of the driver side fender. (I have m-tech flaires that will cover it (they also would need paint

The A/C is not blowing cold. I was working on the dash trying to get a rattle out. When I put it back together, the A/C was not blowing cold. The button lights up and the compressor turns on though. Haven't had time to figure it out yet.

A few other little things. I can't do all the work. ;)

Overall it's a good car and is just about there, just needs a little more to make it really nice

I'm asking $5500

Please pm or call 949-294-0695 if you have any questions
I'm located in Southern California

Thanks Tim

This is one kick ass car, good luck with your sale Tim! I am kinda suprised you want to part with it after all the hard work you put into it. Love the wheels by the way...what kind are they? Ronal?

Thanks Ron for the kind words. I go back and forth with whether or not to sell it. As far as the rims go I believe they're style 15's from an e38

Did you make adapters for those seats? I've wanted some for a long time now.

Corbeau sells the adaptors, although you could make your own without to much trouble.

What kind of springs are on the car? The car is obviously lowered, but I don't see anything mentioned about modified springs.

The fronts are Bav auto and the rears are stock. The front end is lighter than the 535 so to get the drop I wanted I had to do some slight cutting of the springs. The rear springs are also cut but the ride while firm remains smooth and is not bouncy at all. I have a set of rear Bilstein sports with the adjustable spring perches that I'll give away with the car. That way if some one wants to swap the springs out for something else no cutting will have to be done on the rears. I'm very concious of the ride quality and have tried several different spring/shock configurations and this actually works pretty well with the Bilstein tourings that are on the car right now.

Gees, I'm totally diggin' the look.

The stance, while pretty aggressive, looks spot-on accompanied by those Style 15s.

I made Tim an offer - kind of.....He needed to think about really selling it. he has alot of time in the car to get it to this level. hes a super nice guy!!!!!!!!!!

My only issue for the lack of power....It was mind boggling. I had that '86 Bahama Beige ETA (not SUPER) auto and that car would get up and go....I mean it. it had balls...
Tims car looks the part but, was lacking h.p. and torque...
Both Ron P. and myself drove the car and were surprised to say the least. hands dowm - appearance, euro finish and interior - outstanding.....

I was thinking when the head was removed due to a leak - maybe they put the timing belt off a few degrees.....

I'd drop a M30b35, P&P cylinder head with performance camshaft, wiring harness and #179, Headers, Mark D. chip - You would be in the 220h.p. range. That's 40 more ponies over a stock 3.5

Paul, If you perform that transplant and slap those black centered RS's on it, I know of one buyer for sure. Very nice looking car. Tim

it would be a keeper

After the M30b35 swap, many new parts and the polished BBS RS with black centers - It would be a KEEPER.
