G260/6 from 87 535is Can broken mount tab be replaced, welded?

The passenger side transmission mount tab of Getrag 260/6 in '87 535is was broken and is missing. Can the tab or mount part of the casing be replaced or welded?

Had it happen on son's E30 years ago.

Did you weld something on to serve as the tab, or replace that part of the case?
