So I posted awhile ago that the shifting had gotten difficult.
Turns out the shift linkage support bracket welds had broken.
So while installing the new bracket I discovered that of the two bolts that hold she sheet metal console to the transmission one was missing and the other was loose. Also the rubber bushing between brackets near the one I replaced was almost split in two. So I'm pretty sure the two bolts were really the culprits in difficult shifting.
So hear is where the saga continues....
Go all that fixed up; new and tightened bolts, new support bracket and new bushing.
Pretty pumped to test the shifting (thank goodness I did this before reinstalling driveshaft and exhaust).
But I can't get it to shift into almost all gears. When the shifter feels like it's in neutral I am definitely in a gear.
So...... I am at a loss as to what to do next. As far as I know there isn't any adjustments in the linkage. Everything else looked good (not that everything is good obviously)
Also, I am extremely curious as to how the this linkage shifts the getrag. Far as I can tell there is the just the pin going in and out of the transmission. In just an axial direction. The left and right motion of shift handle doesn't seem to equate to any relative motion on the pin going into transmission. Anyone bored today who'd like to give me a lesson?
Thanks for all of your help!
