BMW M21B28 - stroker

Post by Rafhael »

It is a BMW E30 Touring, originally with an M21B24 engine.

I'm from Brazil, and I like the Brazilian way. I decided to make some changes but the project is still in progress.

List of upgrades

Engine
- Pistons 0,50 M51
- Crankshaft s52 89,6mm
- mechanical injector (I already bought the car without the injection pump which was electronic, I bought the electronic one and checked it but it didn't work.)

Gearbox (Before it was automatic)

Gs6-37DZ - 6 gears

Diff

2.93 Torsen

In Brazil there are almost no small cars with diesel engines, the country banned it, but as this car was bought by a Portuguese ambassador, who after the service returned to his country of origin and the car was sold to a private individual

My fear was that I wouldn't be able to get spare parts, so I ended up buying a 524TD that was wasted for running illegally in Brazil.

The engine is already running, the engine has not exploded (yet)

Gearbox and cardan in place, but the car is dismantled for painting and without brakes and clutch pedal

Piston m51 and m21

It was necessary to do a little sanding so that the crankshaft could spin freely without the connecting rods touching the block.

The S52 crankshaft was also a problem, as it used short 130mm connecting rods from the m21 engine, it was necessary to machine the crankshaft counterweights, then the assembly was balanced.

all the work has been done, and the engine has worked very well a few times, but it has not yet been put on the street

I'm interested to see how the engine turns out. Neat story with the car

Not an E30 guy, but it's still a BMW and you're working on a BMW engine, doing creative things. I like it. Keep it up and keep us posted.
