Yes, a car can be worth less than the sum of it's saleable parts, and you forgot the style 5 wheels. 5K is high, but with prices doing what they are these days I'd guess $1500 with the goodies. The rust looks problematic, but not terminal, surface rust you can sandblast most of it out, not where the whole car is swiss cheese. Now it is still an eta with an A/T, but that's not a deal killer to many people.

It's alpine over pacific, gets good mileage, under 175k miles. I think the asking price is very reasonable, especially since he didn't even mess up the paint by attempting to wash it

Link still works for me. Summarizing, a white/mold 528e auto. With a number of rust spots, some goodies in the trunk and E39 style 5s, missing the caps. They didn't even wash it for pics for ebay. Would appear to be salvageable, but not without some work.

I should probably get my turbo car on the market. For a few dollars more than this piece of scrap you could own a running, driving, boosted e28 with more horsepower than anything the factory ever put together.

Not to mention the "West German wind deflector". The discerning buyer never misses deals like this.

That said, I know the seller is nuts but I DO understand. Every body panel is straight and likely all original. I don't see tears on the cloth, which deteriorates by age, not mileage, and it's 41 years! I suppose it could make a shell for a drift car, but I suspect the rust is too far, if that is the rust you can see.

But I took a look at his "store" on eBay. If you think this advertisement was entertaining, have a go at his store. The entertainment goes on and on...
