I hear you! To date, the 997 is still one of my favorite 911s (I've driven several), and the .2 GT3 is certainly a wonderful Porsche to drive. As far as speed and capability are concerned, it will make your outgoing 535is feel like very slow car (even though we all know it isn't--everything is relevant)! :D

Adam:

A 997.2 is a great car. But if you can't find the right one, don't overlook the 991.1 cars. I've got a 2014 3.4 liter "base model" with the Sportdesign front fascia and ducktail spoiler, full leather interior (no warping door panels!),7MT w/20K and have really enjoyed it.

But a GT3 in these cars really is the ultimate.

Good luck with the auction and in your search for the right Porsche!

Thanks Mike for the response. Ever since the 997 came out I was in love with the small body and sleak front end. And the .2 is just the cherry on top for me so I'll wait for the right car here, no rush.

I have a few other 911 guys I'm consulting with, including an owner of a 997 GT3RS 4.0 among other beauties in his collection. If you look at my BAT history I was runner up on a red 997.2 GT3 a few months ago.

Unfortunately this auction for the E28 seems fixated on the head. I guess in hindsight I should have just swapped it, but then there would be complaints about the mileage or paint chips. Tough to win here.

I am bidding on your car on BAT. Just got outbid, but I'll keep my eye on it.

The head doesn't bother me in the least bit (for the right price), but you know how the BAT crowd is - they dog the shit out of everything.
