Ive got a 1985 M535i with a m30b34 and i just swapped the head because it had a slight crack. while its ripped apart I'm thinking about boosting it. ive got a T3 .63mm turbo set aside for it. i bought a larger fuel rail, 60lb bosh injectors, and a nuke fuel pressure regulator. should i be fine to run on the stock ecu or should i run a turbo 7 series ECU? im looking to see about 8-10PSI and 300+whp. im willing to go stand alone if needed but id rather not because i dont think this car will be tracked.
after i get this wired up and plumbed up would i be safe to start it? im thinking i may need to step down the injector size, any opinions would be appreciated.
85 m535i turbo. leave Stock ecu or swap it?

If I recall right T3 are considered small for turbine, for m30.
As to ECU, I can't say. I went megasquirt, but it's a big learning curve. Be prepared to read a lot. I tried tuning with a Begi fmu , but it was sketchy with a wonky AFM.
good luck!

.63 t3 housing is small! I'm running a .83 t3 housing on a 6262 turbo. I get positive pressure around 2500 rpm just to give you an idea. The stock engine can deal with alot of abuse. Megasquirt or microsquirt is the way to go. Like marc said there will be a learning curve for sure! I run 16psi on my daily driver bone stock junkyard donor engine. If you were to change anything, I would install HD rockers for durability.
