Bump problem

Post by south26 »

Hi, I am not able to bump for sale items, it only allows me to edit. When I go to bump an item and I go to post a reply it only does edit.

I then noticed if I go back and click on the bump post at the bottom it will then take it to the top. Sorry did not know that this had been changed.

There's a "bump post" button? Can you screenshot this? I wasn't aware of that being a thing.

You just hit the Reply button to bump a post. See?

Sorry, I was planning a write up after a trial testing period. The bump feature has been enabled for probably two years but no one used it. I plan to make the "bump topic" more obvious, maybe an icon just like "post reply" so people see it.

This is at the bottom of threads which are allowed to be bumped by the user:

I think it is pretty dumb to have threads with 30 replies from the seller of "bump" or "I like to eat small children", so I forced a change to encourage use of the bump feature. Additionally people were bumping sale threads way too often so this will keep things fair for everyone. Every 108 hours a bump is allowed which should generally keep threads within the top 3-4 pages on the parts forum.

This only applies to the two for sale forums. The topic starter and I believe the last person to reply should be allowed to bump after 108 hours.

LOL, and I thought South was seeing things. I was about to travel up there to help get him to a psych. :)

Should be more obvious now that I added a button:

The button is slightly janky but that's the best I could come up with after a new minutes in photoshop and not messing with scripting to get the flyover effects.

I'm having a problem as well.

I have a for sale ad that I have updated and changed pictures in, went to bump it, and every time I click on reply, it shows up as an edit to the post, but doesn't actually move the thread.

I noticed the bump button on April 4th, used it, and went back to update the thread again today, and there is no bump button to be found, and replying to the thread also isn't working.

I'm not overly concerned, just thought I would make the issue known.

Thanks

Here is the thread I am referring too

108 hours is 4.5 days. After that, the bump button re-appears

How many hours in your day? Maybe it's less?

Now I'm having that same problem. A thread I last bumped/posted in on April 2nd now won't let me post anything and the button is gone.

The thread in question

Hmm, turns out you are only allowed 1 bump on the last post UNLESS another party replies to the thread. It looks possible to make an adjustment to the code controlling this feature.

Made a change, see if the forum offers the bump button again.

Apparently, Justin doesn't look here often. You might want to PM him if it's that urgent.
